Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Float Pool ICU position, requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a float pool rotating among various ICU and intermediate care units, including Medical ICU, Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1), Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU, Critical Care Special Pathogens Unit, intermediate units, and ED boarders
  • Level 1 trauma environment with medical, surgical, neuro, cardiovascular, and infectious disease patient populations
  • Night shift position (3x12hr, 36 or 48 hours weekly), 19 : 00-07 : 00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
  • Epic EMR system experience required
  • Floating required per facility policy
  • Care for a diverse range of critically ill adult patients across multiple ICUs and intermediate care units
  • Orientation modules completed up to 16 hours during onboarding
  • Must adhere to float policy and work within scope of practice
  • Must have been separated from any University of Virginia Health system facility for at least one year to be eligible for rehire
  • Travelers may only work assignments under this health system for a maximum of 365 days
  • No radius rule for this position
  • Up to 40 hours RTO (requested time off) can be approved per 13-week contract
  • Work in a team-oriented, high-acuity, and fast-paced environment

    • Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required, will accept pending license if in-hand before start date
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Previous ICU and Level 1 trauma experience strongly preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two professional references required
  • Background check and Nursys verification required
  • BSN preferred
