Verdex Construction is seeking Assistant Superintendents to join our Florida West Coast Operations team, supporting our mission of "Building Something Better."
Role Overview
The Assistant Superintendent will oversee specific portions of the project in the field, as directed by the Project Superintendent. They will provide leadership to Field Engineers, Carpenters, and Laborers, organizing their areas of work to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality project delivery within scheduled timelines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Contribute to the development of baseline schedules for assigned scopes, collaborating with subcontractors, and update progress monthly to identify opportunities for schedule acceleration and delay mitigation.
- Review shop drawings to ensure proper ordering and construction alignment.
- Manage site logistics, safety, cleanliness, and overall site management.
- Coordinate trades, work sequences, and MEP integrations, including ceilings if applicable.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Oversee daily manpower, work quality, safety, and site cleanliness.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, providing input on schedule, logistics, safety, and quality.
- Attend weekly progress meetings, addressing project issues and updates.
- Control labor, equipment, and tool expenditures within assigned areas.
- Prepare and submit daily reports accurately reflecting job site conditions and manpower.
- Resolve field issues with subcontractors promptly and fairly.
- Develop detailed work lists for assigned trades and expedite their completion to uphold quality standards.
- Evaluate and mentor laborers and carpenters for career development.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of five years of hands-on construction experience with increasing responsibility, or a relevant degree plus two years of experience.Experience as a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent on comparable projects.Strong communication skills and professional appearance.Ability to work effectively in a team, exercise judgment, multitask, and meet deadlines.Physical ability to perform job tasks, including climbing ladders, walking, and lifting up to 100 lbs.OSHA 30 Safety Certification.Benefits & Perks
