Senior Manager, Creative Automation
Do you look at a 200 step, manual campaign workflow and instantly see an automation blueprint? As Senior Manager, Creative Automation at Sam's Club, you'll modernize how creative gets made, stored, and shipped across our Paid Media Channels (Search, Display, Affiliate, etc.). You will automate asset handling in AEM, stand up a preprocessing pipeline that "does the Photoshop work" before creatives ever touch it, integrate the toolchain end-to-end, and orchestrate distribution so assets reach each channel with minimal human touch. This is a builder role on a new teamyou'll set the roadmap, influence busy partner teams to gather requirements and clear blockers, and prove impact with data by shortening time to market, improving first pass success, and lowering cost per asset.
What You'll Do
Map and baseline the manual maze : Document end-to-end production across ~200 action roles from brief ? design ? QA ? publish; capture metrics on cycle time, manual touches, rework / defect rates, and channel delivery latency.
AEM intake on rails : Define AEM ingestion standards (foldering, metadata / rights, versioning, accessibility tags, autonaming) and configure automated intake so assets land correctly without manual filing.
Preflight + preprocess pipeline : Launch automated image / transcode workflows (crop / resize / retouch, colorspace, background removal, variant generation, alttext suggestions) that prepare assets for channels before human review.
Integration blueprint : Produce a systems integration plan connecting creative tool, Work / Project Management, AEM, and our campaign / channel platformsso the system manages handoffs, not people. Prioritize a 90-day backlog of "micro automations" with effort / impact sizing.
Automate "store ? prep ? ship" :
Store (AEM) : Implement rules-based metadata and smart collections to improve searchability and reuse; automate governance checks (brand, legal, accessibility).
Prep (preprocessing) : Scale batch transformations and template driven variants; embed quality gates and error handling.
Ship (multichannel) : Stand up auto syndication from AEM (or orchestration layer) to owned channels with channel specific renditions and payloads, plus delivery confirmations.
Operationalize the roadmap : Convert opportunities into a quarterly plan from pilot ? production, with change management and training for internal teams and agencies.
Scale across owned channels : Extend automations to merchandising, lifecycle / email, onsite / app, and notifications; enable self-serve templates and guided workflows for partner teams.
Close the loop with data : Instrument A / B testing and dynamic optimization; feed learnings back into templates, prompts, and automation rules.
Resource & vendor stewardship : Optimize team / agency capacity against the automation roadmap; measure partners on throughput, quality, compliance, and time to market.
Influence across busy teams : Proactively gather requirements from partners who don't have free cycles; align on priorities; remove blockers without losing day to day momentum.
Govern responsibly : Maintain brand, ethics, and accessibility standards for any automation or GenAI assisted stepsclear review gates and audit trails included.
Grow people, not just pipelines : Coach a manager level IC reporting to you; build a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement on a team with healthy ambiguity (and lots of opportunity).
What You'll Bring
Builder's mindset + campaign operations savvy : You've automated campaign management / execution flows (even if you're not a designer), replacing manual steps with orchestrated onessupported by before / after metrics on speed, quality, and cost.
AEM & workflow chops : Experience structuring AEM (or comparable DAM) for automationmetadata models, foldering / versioning, permissions, smart collectionsand connecting AEM to upstream creative tools and downstream channels.
Preprocessing at scale : Hands-on with automated image / video pipelines (templating, resizing, retouching, variant generation, Alt text suggestions) and integrating that into approval flows.
Systems integration instinct : Comfortable designing APIs, webhooks, and connectors between work management, DAM (AEM), campaign management, and channel systems to achieve "create once, distribute everywhere."
Analytical storytelling : Define KPIs (manual touches, cycle time, first pass approval, defects, reuse, distribution latency, cost / asset), instrument dashboards, and translate insights into roadmap decisions.
Influence & soft skills : A solution oriented, self-starter who collaborates across very different personalities; communicates technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders; stays flexible in ambiguity; and prioritizes ruthlessly without waiting for perfect clarity.
Growth posture : Coachable, curious, and eager to learn new toolswhile elevating the team's craft and pace.
