Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage construction contracts for major street rehabilitation projects, including street overlay and concrete rehabilitation and preservation programs.Coordinate and manage street preservation and maintenance contracts, including chip seal, slurry seal, crack seal, and concrete street preservation.Review and approve progress payments for capital project construction contracts and represent the Street Division at meetings with contractors and other agencies.Prepare reports on construction activities and coordinate with other divisions and agencies on infrastructure rehabilitation and preservation projects.Coordinate the work of employees in the collection of pavement condition data.Review and analyze pavement condition data and recommend appropriate rehabilitation and preservation strategies and organize and prepare program contracts.Coordinate collection and maintenance of various types of roadway infrastructure condition data required for the pavement management system, including surface distress surveys and structural surveys.Perform research and analysis of infrastructure condition data on public rights-of-way throughout Aurora.Maintain computerized record-keeping system of pavement data.Prepare construction contract documents, including plans, drawings, specifications, and estimates.Prepare recommendations for contract awards.Prepare and monitor project budget, including expenditures.Manage maintenance contracts through field monitoring and quantity calculations.Coordinate placement, maintenance, and programming of portable variable message boards.Coordinate maintenance of road weather information system and automated vehicle location system, including equipment installation and testing.Research funding alternatives and new technologies for street maintenance.Produce reports and maintain records using pavement management software, spreadsheet, and database software.Investigate and resolve citizen requests; coordinate and manage contracted snow removal efforts.Perform additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications & Working Conditions
Education
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field.Experience
At least 2 years progressively responsible experience in infrastructure analysis or inspection work related to asphalt and concrete construction.Preferred Qualifications
PMP Certification.Engineering Intern Certification.Knowledge
Inspection and coordination work.Materials associated with asphalt and Portland cement concrete infrastructure.City standards and specifications.Computer operation and related software applications.Skills
Strong interpersonal skills.General computer use, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and ESRI ArcGIS.Abilities
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, vendors, and citizens.Obtain and report on precise data.Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.Perform complex mathematical computations.Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Supportive team player with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change.Strong commitment to safety.Licenses & Certifications Required
Colorado Driver's License.Work Environment & Physical Demands
