The Mechanical Design Engineer will be the product champion of all existing product models, learning, maintaining, and improving established product lines through a mix of hands-on testing, CAD modelling, calculations, and studies.
Responsibilities
- Learn all existing products and perform engineering calculations to derive design intent.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of part evaluation and qualification.
- Update drawings, models, and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software.
- Perform ECRs to update products as changes arise.
- Conduct product verification, competitive testing of products and associated data.
- Review parts against prints utilizing knowledge of CTQs (Criticals to Quality), standard dimensional tolerances, GD&T, and performance requirements.
- Troubleshoot and find root cause of products that do not comply with requirements.
- Communicate cross-functionally with other departments including sales and operations personnel.
- Utilize or design test equipment / gauges to provide product verification, validate product requirements and conduct competitive testing.
