What You’ll Do
The certified clinical hemodialysis technician (CCHT) performs the home hemodialysis treatment procedure delivering safe, efficient care of the highest quality.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education and Experience :
High School diploma / GEDNational CCHT CertificationCurrent CPR certificationOne-year clinical home hemodialysis experience preferredRequired Skills and Competencies :
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English including reading, writing, speaking, and understandingComputer proficiencyEssential Duties and Responsibilities :
Understands basic renal function and the consequences of renal failureDemonstrates basic knowledge of treatment modalities available to ESRD patientsPromotes the education of patients and their understanding of their disease and its treatmentUnderstands and performs the home hemodialysis procedure according to Rendevor Dialysis policies and proceduresEnsures that all safety checks are completed before initiation of dialysis treatmentMonitors and records dialysis treatment parameters such as vital signs, weight changes, etc. and communicates information to licensed personnel according to Rendevor Dialysis policy and proceduresAdheres to Rendevor Dialysis’s infection control policies and procedures understanding the hazards and consequences associated with failing to follow those proceduresPerforms thorough patient assessments, as evidenced by documentation and feedback to the licensed personnelCommunicates significant information to appropriate team members and documents in a clear, concise, and accurate mannerObtains blood samples and culture specimens as ordered and performs routine testsAdministers oxygen as necessary by cannula or mask under direction of the nurseParticipates in CPR as neededPrepares treatment area prior to initiation of patient treatment and post patient treatment per Rendevor Dialysis policy and proceduresPrepares daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients as directedHelps to maintain a neat and clean environmentPrepares, records and files laboratory reports as directedPerforms all tasks necessary for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the unitMaintains confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and Rendevor Dialysis policiesParticipates in the IDT and QAPI committee and attends meetings as needed and / or requestedIdentifies and reports concerns, issues, and opportunities for improvement when identifiedParticipates in performance improvement projects within licensure, certification, and scope of practiceParticipates in annual QAPI training and other continuing education, as assigned, and requiredProvides suggestions for alternate strategies for indicators not improvingAssists in building and maintaining a facility / clinic culture of safety and qualityReports errors and near misses so that steps can be taken to prevent recurrenceReports any negative feedback, complaints, grievances from other staff members, patients, and familiesUses evidence-based guidelines and proper infection control practicesParticipates in self and / or peer evaluationsPromotes a teamwork approach by offering information, advice, and assistance to all unit staff members in a positive, courteous, and cooperative mannerChecks email at least weekly and responds appropriately and timely ; uses company-provided email for all work-related email communicationsAdheres to company policies and proceduresDemonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctualityPerforms other duties as assignedSupervision :
This position will report directly to the Unit Leader.Work Environment :
This job exists in a medical unit of a post-acute facility. This role may include exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens. This role routinely involves the use of both medical and standard office equipment.
Physical Demands :
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to push, pull or lift supplies and products up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to work the full schedule which may range from five to fifteen hours in any given day, based on the unit requirements (i.e. patient census, staffing needs, etc.)
