Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Revenue and Remittance Manager, the Revenue and Remittance Supervisor plans, supervises and evaluates the work performed by the billing department staff to ensure customers are billed accurately and revenue is accounted for properly. The incumbent exercises independent judgement while adhering to established policies and procedures, regulations and best practices. Specific Responsibilities

Assigns, directs, trains, develops and schedules the billing department staff

Evaluates the work of the billing department staff and works with staff to correct deficiencies

Performs the more difficult and complex billing duties, including resolution of escalated customer complaints, resolving payment and service issues, and manages the billing account review process to render decisions when customers dispute charges

Manages the daily operations of customer billing to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory tariffs

Assists with the implementation of new rates, including identifying and resolving issues, and testing

Assists all departments in investigating customer billing and remittance posting questions

Identifies resolutions to billing, bill mailing, cash processing, bank errors, and related accounting issues pertaining to revenue and cash deposits

Prepares monthly and annual statistical reports or analyses as required by management

Assists with quarterly, interim and annual audits and provides related deliverables

Reviews regulations impacting the administration of customer billing and collection activities and provide recommendations for implementation

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of billing and collection procedures, accounting and auditing principles, and Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance

Ability to adjust quickly to changing processes and priorities

Interact effectively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Customer Systems and Customer Service

Principles of supervision and training

Effective written and oral communication skills

Required Education And Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or other related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience which includes 5 years' experience supervising professional employees conducting utility billing functions

Diversified experience with customer and accounting information systems. Experience with Oracle Customer Care and Billing and JD Edwards Enterprise One would be a plus. EEO Statement
