Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accuracy in coding, and filing required appeals and fee reviews. This position plays a critical role in supporting timely collections and maintaining the financial health of our practice.
This role requires a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, along with experience in electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR). The Medical Biller Assistant will also help ensure compliance with healthcare regulations while supporting our team in delivering exceptional patient care.
This is an in office position, M-F, 40 hours per week. We do not offer a remote / hybrid option.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Process insurance billing and collections for durable medical equipment (DME) services.
Manage fee reviews and ensure accurate billing for goods and services to insurance companies.
Pursue reimbursement from insurance companies, ensuring timely and accurate collections.
Perform additional tasks as needed to support the billing and collections process.
Collaborate with team members to maintain strong relationships with private practice physicians and other key stakeholders.
Requirements
Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field (preferred).
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, HCPCs coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical records management.
Proficiency with EMR and EHR systems is essential.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Clear communication skills for interaction with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
Previous experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable..
