Director Of Finance And Operations
The Department of Sociology is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) to partner with the department faculty and staff to achieve continued growth and preeminence in research and teaching. Reporting to the Chair of Sociology, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at H&S, the DFO will provide management oversight and direction for the operations, administration, and finances for the department. As the partner to the Chair, this critical leadership position will ensure sound management of the department and work with the Chair and faculty leaders on new and continuing educational programming and initiatives to enable the department to achieve its mission. Additionally, the DFO serves as the liaison to the school and university for administrative business matters for the department and partners with subject matter experts throughout the university to make recommendations and decisions as needed.
As the administrative leader for the department, the DFO provides leadership and direction for all administrative functions, including budgeting and financial management of approximately $10 million, planning for teaching and course offerings, student services, events, programming for the departmental community, facilities, property management, and space planning, information security, compliance, and safety. The DFO manages department operations, establishes the administration's organizational structure and environment, and has oversight of administrative policies and procedures in the department. In addition, the DFO oversees a team of nine staff, directly supervising five, and performs tasks ranging from human resources to financial planning to faculty affairs.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing position exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

The expected pay range for this position is $120,276.00 to $160,148.00 per annum.
