TPA's Director of Community Engagement and Program Activations will develop scalable systems, manage vendor relationships, oversee budgets, and lead a team to deliver high-quality, impactful community-based engagement and event experiences with and for our roster of Players. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, solutions-driven project management leader with deep experience in large-scale event logistics, operational execution, project management, and pre and post analysis and wrap up. They should thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to problem-solve in real-time, and ensure that every engagement event is executed flawlessly from start to finish.
- Create meaningful Player Engagement volunteering and giving opportunities aligned with our mission.
- Lead event strategy across our Player Engagement Portfolio partnering with our 30 MLB Clubs ensuring that our event opportunities align towards larger, long-term objectives.
- Lead the planning and execution of a portfolio of player activation opportunities, including timeline and vendor management, onsite setup and breakdown, and ensuring smooth, vision-aligned execution.
- Manage event workflows from inception to completion, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Introduce and implement new ideas and industry best practices to elevate event impact.
- Oversee event budgets and analyze return on investment (ROI) to optimize spending.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute future event and activation opportunities.
Source and manage production companies, agencies, and vendors to deliver events aligned with TPA's vision and social impact goals.
Measure event performance against key metrics and apply insights to improve future activations.
Domestic travel (30-40%), including evenings and weekends.
What You Will Bring
8-10+ years of project and program management, event and production experience, including experiential and brand events.
5+ years of experience managing a team.
Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience with event strategies, including trends, influencers, and partnerships.
Proven track record of creating events and activations with measurable outcomes.
Ability to thrive in a complex, organization with a collaborative mindset.
Strong communication skills and poise under pressure.Create legacy programs that can make an impact on the local and national baseball community that are sponsorable and can be executed annually.Serve as a point of contact for sponsors’ community impact department to ensure alignment of community engagement goals.Manage and oversee the implementation of all social impact programs as well as conducting periodic program reviews to assess outcomes and effectiveness.Serve as the primary point of contact for player appearances associated with the community impact department.Strong expertise in managing relationships, networks and teams that include a diverse group of people representative of the public and private sectors, community-based organizations, nonprofit and civic leadership, and program beneficiaries.Proven effectiveness in driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes and cross-team projects to desired results.Experience distilling complex and seemingly (legacy) directives into aligned, meaningful, impactful community programs; goes hand in hand in rebuilding an organization with purpose at the center.Excellent communicator and storyteller – both written and verbal.Seek out, understand, and incorporate feedback from our MLB partners, Focus Cities, and all grantees in the underserved communities we aim to serve.Excellent communication skills and the ability to distill complex information into simple messages and concise communication materials, tailored for the audience.Hands-on approach as well as strong prioritization skills, ensuring that the team is working on the right things at the right time. They will be able to effectively balance a wide range of challenges, from short-term impact to long-term growth expectations.
