Title : Manager-Radiology-Safety Sensitive
Department : Radiology / X-Ray
Reporting Relationships : The Radiology Manager is under the direct supervision of the Director of Radiology.
Job Summary : The Radiology Manager is responsible for delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the Radiology departments. A trained technologist who performs all required diagnostic procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high quality exams. The Radiology Manager works with patients and physicians and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one and to put forth the utmost quality as a technologist. This position requires a sound knowledge of radiologic technology practice and leadership abilities.
Job Duties :
- Complete studies in a timely and efficient manner utilizing downtime to assist others where needed. Maintains and implements current skills and knowledge, policy and procedures specific to radiology procedures.
- Promotes positive relationships at the departmental level, discusses concerns with the Director, and presents the department in a positive manner to other employees and staff members
- Provides mandatory in-service programs for staff participation. Ensures staff receives proper orientation prior to assuming patient care responsibilities. Responsible for coordination of clinical students. Conducts monthly staff meetings.
- Provides effective leadership to the radiology departments. Maintains appropriate quality control programs. Participates in development and implementation of department policies and procedures. Continually assesses the department’s performance. Maintains open communication with all staff to promote improvement in performance. Works with supervisors to ensure care is delivered to each patient in accordance with hospital and department policy. Promotes confidentiality and uses discretion when discussing patient or staff information.
- Develops and utilizes mechanisms for evaluating and controlling operation activities. Assists in developing fiscal plan (budget). Maintains supplies with a minimum inventory and develops new methods of supply utilization. Works with Director to create mechanisms for cost effectiveness in the purchasing of supplies while maintaining expenditures within the budget.
- Follows attendance and tardy policies.
- Follows WRMC dress code and appearance policy.
- Participates in required hospital and department in-services and meetings and follows safety and infection control policies.
- Completes performance evaluations before due date. Exhibits fairness and good judgement while performing annual staff evaluations.
- Employee counseling performed in a timely manner. Address employee issues in a timely manner and document all sessions with the employee including, initial discussions, verbal warnings, and written warnings according to hospital procedure.
- Assures annual competency checklists are completed for all medical complex imaging staff.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of Arkansas Department of Health requirements and maintains an accurate and up to date policy and procedure manual, ACR requirements, department in-service records, safety and infection control standards, and quality improvement reports.
- Assures that workload is fairly distributed among all staff. Takes initiative to perform and / or assign duties wherever workload requires.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications :
Education : High school graduate or equivalent. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology. ARRT and / or ARDMS registered.Training and Experience : Preferred Minimum of 3 years of a supervisor leadership role.Job Knowledge : Experience with Arkansas Department of Health requirements, employee performance evaluations, preparing department budget, quality improvement data collection and reporting, and a clear understanding of hospital operations is required.Essentials :
Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and / or alcohol.Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.Prepares for diagnostic testing by verification of physician order, verification of patient identity, communication with nursing unit when necessary for order clarification and / or patient transport needs.Thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and / or family and answers questions regarding the test to alleviate anxiety and prepare patient for test.Obtains the highest quality studies possible following department protocol for physician interpretation.Maintains current BLS and ARDMS and / or ARRT credentialing licensure status.Physical Demands : Work generally does not involve occupational risk; however, failure to follow established procedures and safety practices could result in minor injury, e.g., minor cuts, bruises from falling on slippery floors or back injuries sustained while moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment or materials.
