Commercial Contracts Counsel

Location : Onsite – Chicago, IL

A leading global trading firm is seeking a Commercial Contracts Counsel to join its high-performing legal team. The company is known for its research-driven, technology-focused approach and operates at the forefront of financial innovation. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment that values creativity, collaboration, and practical legal insight.

Responsibilities :

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including :

– Technology and software licensing agreements

– Vendor and consulting agreements

– Telecommunications and lease agreements

– Data licensing agreements

  • Provide pragmatic legal advice that balances risk with business objectives
  • Manage contract lifecycles, including renewals, renegotiations, and terminations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support global infrastructure and expansion initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of contract templates, playbooks, and internal policies
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the legal function

    • Experience :

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to a U.S. state bar in good standing
  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience with a strong focus on commercial contracts
  • Experience with IT / software agreements, telecommunications, tower leases, and / or data licensing
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements and communicate effectively across technical and business teams
  • Prior in-house experience in financial services, fintech, telecommunications, or technology sectors is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Business-minded with a practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal issues
