Title : Sr. Research Associate I / II, Protein Purification (Drug Discovery)
Location : Downtown Boston, MA
Salary : $90,000-$130,000, dependent on experience
Job Summary
Antares Therapeutics is seeking a highly knowledgeable Senior Research Associate I / II to join the Protein and Structural Sciences team. This role is ideal for someone with exceptional protein purification experience who wants to advance drug discovery programs by enabling structural biology experiments. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of structural biologists to plan and execute purifications of crystallography-grade proteins. This individual will also manage day-to-day operations in our protein production space. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of structural biology and biochemistry in a fast-paced drug discovery setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prosecute gene-to-protein projects for a diverse set of Antares's targets
- Manage the protein production space and equipment
- Work with team members to efficiently generate new crystallography-grade protein
- Perform protein quality control and characterization
- Collaborate on protein design with team members to enable structural biology
- Occasional cross-functional work purifying protein for biochemistry or chemical biology groups
- Report and present results and contribute to strategy on different project teams
- Maintain excellent records and communication across internal and external colleagues
- Coordinate with CRO partners to produce some proteins externally
Professional Experience / Qualifications :
Master's degree and 5+ years of experience or Bachelors and 7+ years of experience in protein purification, ideally in a drug discovery settingDemonstrated expertise in protein purification process development including broad experience with AKTA FPLCs and knowledge of chromatography resinsExperience in bacterial expression systems and strains requiredAbility to purify multiple, similar proteins in parallelCapable of screening small groups of protein constructs for soluble expressionExperience evaluating the quality and biophysical characteristics of recombinant protein in different types of assays is a plus, but not requiredExperience with protein crystallography and NMR proteins is a plus, but not required
