Strategy & Communications Officer
The Strategy and Communications Officer's role is to ensure that BCS's communications, community engagement, and public relations strategies are effective, targeted, and credible. The Strategy and Communications will also nurture a strong community network and ensure the communication strategy is consistent and reflects BCS's strategic vision.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Define, develop, execute, and analyze an effective and sustainable public relations, communication, and community engagement strategy that advances the BCS mission, goals, and increases stakeholder engagement in BCS activities and programs system-wide.
- Develop content for distribution to all media outlets including athletics, social media, and programs campaigns.
- Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities.
- Develop and manage branding initiatives, internal and external communications.
- Drive BCS communication strategy and message development.
- Utilize tools and technology to leverage public relations and community engagement efforts to increase BCS visibility and promote a positive image.
- Identify and / or anticipate key issues, presenting problems to BCS leadership to collaborate, create solutions, and resolve issues.
- Prepare reports, briefings, updates, presentations, and other documentation as evidence of progress and / or information to education stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations, develop strategies, and create opportunities for meaningful engagement to influence positive change among key stakeholder groups.
- Work with leadership, administration, staff, and stakeholders to manage and implement key strategic initiatives, programs, events, and projects designed to meet the goals and objectives of the BCS strategic plan or to meet other needs both district wide and at the local school level.
- Collect, track, document, and analyze data and key public relations and engagement metrics, milestones, and achievements for the purpose of monitoring and documenting areas of progress, need, and accomplishment, and to ensure performance levels are maintained and strategic tactics are implemented to fidelity.
- Provide project management for implementation of key initiatives, and drive engagement across all stakeholder sectors.
- Manage company brand and reputation.
- Develop new and sustain existing alliances, networks, and partnerships to enhance the BCS image, increase visibility, strengthen community impact, and expand the pool of available resources.
- Translate needs, ideas, and concepts into viable and sustainable stakeholder initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree required with a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible work experience in public, community, or government relations, demonstrating experience exerting influence, negotiating, and building consensus both internally and externally; Master's Degree preferred.Demonstrated experience leading projects and project teams.Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills, as well as solid knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.Demonstrated ability to initiate, design, plan, execute, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to utilize tact and good judgment.Ability to communicate complex matters and information in a simple, structured way to various stakeholders.Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to acquire and manage resources.Ability to interact and establish effective working relationships internally, as well as externally.Experience in volunteer and program management / coordination & community relationship building.Demonstrated analytical and conceptual problem-solving ability.Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work under pressure with a broad spectrum of perspectives and personalities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Application Requirements :
