Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit with Level 1 trauma and telemetry expertise.
Responsibilities
Work in a 48-bed Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit within a Level 1 trauma hospitalPatient population includes epilepsy, brain tumor, subdural hematoma, scoliosis surgeries, traumatic brain injury, and other neuro diagnosesTelemetry required with med / surg focus and some BiPAP-managed patientsNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4 on days and nights12-hour day shifts (7am-7pm) with three weekend shifts required every four weeksWork two out of four major holidays during assignmentFloating may occur to related med / surg or telemetry unitsUses Cerner EMR system; experience preferredFloor-specific orientation includes two shifts and 12 total orientation hoursResponsibilities include continuous neuro assessments, EEG monitoring, and care for complex neuro-surgical and epilepsy patientsSupport from a dedicated charge RN and additional resource RN on all shiftsIV Team (SWAT RN), 24 / 7 RT, and pharmacy support availablePharmacy and respiratory therapy present in-house 24 / 7Scrub color is Grey's Anatomy steelStrict dress code : natural hair color only, no facial piercings, men must be clean-shaven for fit testingMust pass initial simulation and skills lab or assignment will be terminatedFirst-time travelers considered if all other requirements are metRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum of 2 years RN experience in acute care with Level 1 trauma backgroundExperience in telemetry and med / surg nursing requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)Completion of SIMs Lab skill validation on day one including sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changesAbility to detect subtle patient changes and demonstrate strong critical thinking and neuro assessment skillsCandidates must meet a 50-mile radius rule as determined by driver’s licenseNo direct employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past yearBenefits
