Library – Library Assistant I (Part-time) Lake George
General
General : Under the general supervision of the Branch Librarian, this position assists in maintaining the circulation operation and general collection maintenance; assists in the selection process of all materials purchased for the library collection; works extensively with the public by assisting patrons in library use and book selection.
Essential Duties
- Assists in providing quality library services to the community. Actively promotes services and materials to the public through programming support, reader advisory skills and general public relation skills.
- Provides patron services in locating library materials and checking library materials in and out.
- Responds to patrons’ reference questions by advising where materials are located.
- Assists library patrons in learning library skills.
- Answers telephone requests.
- Processes applications for library cards, notifies patrons of overdue books and collects fines.
- Participates in the shelving of library materials.
- Requests inter-library loan materials as required.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Experience working in a library, including experience with computers, filing systems, and public relations; must pass background check.Department
