Position Overview
As a Software Developer on the ObservSMART platform team, you will design and develop the software that powers our national patient safety and compliance systems. You’ll build backend services, APIs, and user interfaces that integrate with IoT devices and real-time data pipelines—deployed across Kubernetes-based distributed architectures for high availability and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Python (Django) and related frameworks.
- Build secure and performant RESTful and WebSocket APIs to support web, mobile, and IoT clients.
- Implement and optimize scalable distributed systems deployed via Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with firmware, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software systems.
- Write maintainable, well-documented, and testable code following modern development standards.
- Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and peer code reviews.
- Troubleshoot, profile, and resolve issues in distributed production environments.
- Contribute to automation, observability, and deployment workflows.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline (required).2+ years of professional software development experience.Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with the Django framework.Working knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript and front-end frameworks such as React.Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL preferred).Understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).Knowledge of distributed system design, microservices, and API-driven architectures.Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.Proficiency with Git, CI / CD workflows, and Linux-based environments.Preferred Experience
Experience in healthcare, IoT, or safety-critical software systems.Understanding of HIPAA compliance , PHI handling , and security best practices.Exposure to asynchronous processing (Celery, Redis, or similar).Experience with performance optimization and scalability in production systems.Additional Details
