Strong proficiency inPythonand familiarity with theDjangoframework. Working knowledge ofJavaScript / TypeScriptand front-end frameworks such asReact. Experience withSQL databases(PostgreSQL or MySQL preferred). Understanding ofcontainerization and orchestration(Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge ofdistributed system design, microservices, and API-driven architectures. Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles. Proficiency with Git, CI / CD workflows, and Linux-based environments. Experience in healthcare, IoT, or safety-critical software systems. Understanding of HIPAA compliance , PHI handling , and security best practices. Exposure to asynchronous processing (Celery, Redis, or similar). Experience with performance optimization and scalability in production systems. Position Overview
As aSoftware Developeron the ObservSMART platform team, you will design and develop the software that powers our national patient safety and compliance systems. Youll build backend services, APIs, and user interfaces that integrate with IoT devices and real-time data pipelinesdeployed across Kubernetes-based distributed architectures for high availability and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services usingPython (Django)and related frameworks.
- Build secure and performantRESTful and WebSocket APIsto support web, mobile, and IoT clients.
- Implement and optimize scalable distributed systems deployed viaKubernetes.
- Collaborate with firmware, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software systems.
- Write maintainable, well-documented, and testable code following modern development standards.
- Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and peer code reviews.
- Troubleshoot, profile, and resolve issues in distributed production environments.
- Contribute to automation, observability, and deployment workflows.
