Job Description :
- The OBD Production Vehicle Evaluation (PVE) Test Engineer is responsible for executing assigned OBD diagnostic demonstration programs which are submitted to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to support OBD certification.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Ordering test vehiclesManaging vehicle buildup, testing, and de-instrumentation and generating work order requests for vehicle instrumentation as neededCompleting PVE testing following internally published best practices. This includes the following :Use of CAN and LIN communication software to ensure detection of networking faultsInterfacing with a breakout harness and installing resistors on electrical lines to ensure detection of circuit faultsUtilizing hardware (e.g. different EGR valves) to ensure detection of various faultsDriving company vehicles on road for fault detection as neededTaking Vehicle Diagnostic scans for data collectionFacilitating the investigation of issues found during testing with Engineering teamsAnalyzing results to ensure faulted demonstration per documented proceduresSupporting OBD Reporting Engineering with updates to documented procedures as neededSupporting identification and read across of procedural concerns within the consolidated procedures documentSubmitting requests to Instrumentation to have new breakout harnesses built as neededRequirements :
Minimum 2 years experience in OBD testing, certification, compliance, emissions testing, or similarMust have strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, MS Excel) and a willingness to adhere to processesMust be detail-oriented, have good people skills, and be a self-starterAbility to independently manage project objectives and activitiesMust have good communication and coordinating skills to manage multiple vehicle programsExposure in :Understanding regulatory certification related to OBD PVE testing or vehicle emissions testingCompiling / reviewing data and preparing necessary documentation in a timely manner.Experience working in an automotive lab environment. Comfortable working with government employeesExperience setting OBD faultsHybrid and / or Electric vehicle testing experience is a plusEducation :
