Senior Facilities and Maintenance Engineer
We are searching for a Senior Facilities and Maintenance Engineer who is responsible for increasing operating minutes by improving equipment reliability and reducing unplanned downtime. As the go-to expert on equipment and facilities, youine will lead technical problem-solving, implement structured preventive maintenance (PM) and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and support a growing production team by ensuring our facility and machinery run smoothly. Youine will also manage and mentor one Maintenance Engineer, helping shape in-house maintenance capability for the long term.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment & Maintenance Operations
- Serve as the first responder for equipment breakdowns and urgent mechanical or facilities issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic automation issues on production lines and support equipment.
- Develop and implement structured preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment lifespan based on manufacturers manuals and industry best practices.
- Draft, revise, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for common maintenance tasks and equipment adjustments.
- Collaborate with production leads, manufacturing managers, and operators to encourage consistent, best-practice adjustments.
- Facilities Oversight
- Maintain facility infrastructure including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and general building systems to ensure compliance, cleanliness, and reliability.
- Coordinate and oversee outside vendors for specialized facilities work (e.g., refrigeration, electrical contractors, inspections).
- Lead small capital projects related to facilities upgrades, utilities, or production line expansions.
- Leadership & Training
- Prioritize and recommend maintenance, repair, and project tasks to support maximizing production efficiency and output.
- Supervise and mentor one Maintenance Engineer, fostering skill development, accountability, and safety awareness.
- Train production leads and operators on proper equipment use and minor maintenance practices.
- Promote a culture of root cause analysis, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and service logs in CMMS or other tracking systems.
- Support safety and quality audits by ensuring all equipment is operating in compliance with relevant codes and standards (OSHA, food safety, etc.).
- Identify and order necessary spare parts to maintain critical inventory levels without overstocking.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a maintenance or facilities role, ideally in food manufacturing, CPG, or light industrial production.2+ years of leadership experience managing people or projects.Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills across a range of manufacturing equipment.Experience developing and implementing PM programs and SOPs.Proficient in reading equipment manuals, schematics, and interpreting technical documentation.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with cross-functional teams.Strong communication and leadership skills; able to coach, train, and influence others.CMMS or digital maintenance system experience is a plus.Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., GMPs, HACCP) preferred.Details
