Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr Principal Manufacturing Engineer . This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do :

This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with preferred knowledge in the fabrication, assembly, system integration, and testing. The candidate will be involved in Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) and executing the startup of a new program. The candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, have the ability task orient, and communicate effectively with varying levels of Customer, NGC, and Supplier employees and leadership.

Primary responsibilities will include providing technical and administrative leadership and guidance to the program Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and / or Suppliers . This will include establishing a program project plan and schedule that is aligned with the IPT Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Provide advanced technological ideas and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to resolve technical questions and ensure compliance and execution to the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) Statement of Work (SOW) requirements. In addition, responsibilities will include providing technical input to the Manufacturing Plan.

Job Responsibilities :

Develops processes by studying requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment

Collaborates with Design Engineering on design and manufacturability issues

Coordinates with the integration team on day-to-day activities. Resolves complex process issues.

Research and evaluate commercially available tools and equipment to support activities.

Investigates root cause of discrepancies and implements corrective actions.

Troubleshoots existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency.

Develops and maintains detailed work instructions for assigned products / processes

Educates / trains operators on new and existing processes.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9 / 80. The 9 / 80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications :

You'll Bring These Qualifications :

Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Bachelor's Degree in Science with 5 years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree with 3 years of relevant work experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Sr Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Bachelor's Degree in Science with 8 years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant work experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree

Required for Both Levels :

Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Interim Secret clearance prior to start

Must have the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)

3 years of experience with Design Reviews, Process Control Documentation, Work Instructions, and Bills of Materials

1 year of experience with Mechanical / Electrical Drawings

1 year of experience with Siemens NX / CPLM or similar tools and Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

Demonstrated experience working in a Model Based Manufacturing digital environment

Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project)

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have :

Bachelor's and / or Master's degree in STEM or an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, etc.

Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years

Understanding & knowledge of engineering releases & supporting documentation needed for material procurement.

An understanding of Manufacturing Readiness Assessment's and establishing Manufacturing Readiness Levels per DoD customer requirements.

Previous experience on high-rate production military program

Experience with ICBM Weapon Systems, Missile / Rocket Systems, or DOD programs

Experience resolving manufacturing process issues & training operators on a new process

Salary Range : $86,600.00 - $130,000.00Salary Range 2 : $107,800.00 - $161,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
