Overview
The City of Attleboro Council on Aging seeks a SHINE Counselor, who under the supervision of the Council on Aging Director and the Regional SHINE Director, provides on-site, in-home and telephone support to elders who may need assistance with accessing public benefits.
Responsibilities
- Assist elders (age 65+) in navigating their health insurance options.
- Assist elders (age 62-64) in understanding their health benefit options under the newly created Integrated Care Organizations (ICOs).
- Assist in completing forms for public benefits (i.e. : Medicare, food stamps, housing applications, fuel assistance, etc.).
- Complete client intake forms.
- Submit a monthly report in a timely manner.
- Report problems and / or concerns to the Council on Aging Director and / or COA Outreach / Case Managers.
- Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
Requires a SHINE Counselor Certification.Requires strong communication skills (written and oral).Must be sensitive to the emotional and physical needs of the elder.Must be respectful of client's right to confidentiality.Must have a willingness to learn about public benefits and how to access them for clients.How to Apply
