As a Plumber with Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, you will be an essential part of our Facilities Department and an important support to Operations as a key contributor to the installation, repair, and inspection of all plumbing systems. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency are integral to success in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Installs, maintains, inspects and repairs all plumbing systems (pipes, valves, fittings, fixtures) and associated processes including steam and water, sanitary waste and vent systems, laboratory waste systems, supply lines, drainage systems and pneumatic systems
- Works with a variety of materials including cement, plastic solvent, caulk, solder, cast iron, PVC, polypropylene, and copper
- Assembles pipe sections, tubing and fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, soldering or brazing equipment
- Performs measuring, cutting, threading or bending pipe using industry standard tools and equipment such as pipe cutters, pipe-threaders, and welding equipment
- Follows procedures, codes and industry standards and maintains strict adherence to safety rules and quality standards, regulations and codes
- Works from written schematics (blueprints, sketches, and other documents) and verbal instructions
- Ensures adequate inventory of necessary plumbing supplies, parts, and materials
- Responds to and resolves plumbing emergencies
- Maintains proper documentation and record keeping
- Performs other related maintenance department duties as required including mechanical and electrical repairs and general maintenance, welding, air conditioning, carpentry work and painting.
QUALIFICATIONS :
2-3 years of experience in plumbing installation, service and repairCompletion of a plumber's program at a technical or trade school preferredCurrent Plumber's License and High school diploma or GED requiredWorking knowledge of plumbing systems and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, repair, and perform general and preventative maintenance in a manufacturing environmentSkillset which includes plumbing and other maintenance skills such as carpentry, pipefitting, welding, machine repair or other general maintenance functionsAdept with use of tools of the trade including rulers, levels, couplings, clamps, bolts, screws, soldering or brazing equipment, hand tools, power tools and materials and supplies such as cement, plastic solvent, caulking, solder, cast iron, PVC, polypropylene, and copperCompetency in Permit Required Confined SpaceUnderstanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)Appropriate state certification or licensePhysical ability to safely lift objects, materials and tools of varying sizes and weights, climb ladders, and bend, twist or kneel as appropriate to complete required tasksKnowledge of CT plumbing codes and safety regulationsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and other industry schematics and documentsAbility to work well with a team and exhibit professional, respectful and clear communicationEEO Employer
