External Relations Associate
The External Relations Associate supports the development and maintenance of relationships with key external stakeholders including business leaders, industry groups, and community organizations to promote the university's strategic goals. This role assists in a variety of external relations tasks within the MarComm External Relations and Partnerships, focusing on enhancing the university's engagement with various external parties and stakeholders. The associate helps in organizing events, coordinating communication efforts, and participating in networks and advocacy groups to increase the university's visibility and influence. Additionally, the role involves supporting the management of the institution-wide membership portfolio and contributing to projects that strengthen the university's public profile and community ties.
Position Specific Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Assist the External Relations unit by supporting outreach, communications, and creative projects. Help in organizing resources and coordinating efforts to meet project timelines and objectives.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of external-facing activities, including partnership meetings, site visits, receptions, and other strategic engagements.
- Assist with the logistics, hospitality, and follow-up for high-profile campus visitors, external partners, and community leaders, ensuring LMU delivers a consistent, positive, and professional experience.
- Provide support in preparing briefing materials, talking points, bios, and external correspondence for senior leadership and MarComm executives.
- Support the creation and maintenance of protocols and checklists for hosting external visitors, ensuring high-quality experiences.
- Accompany and support senior leaders at external engagements as needed.
- Assist in developing and maintaining reports on engagement activities, partnership tracking, and advocacy efforts.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive information and supporting senior-level interactions.
- Exercise excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity when representing LMU to external audiences.

Requisite Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in political science, communications, or public relations preferred.Two years of experience in external relations or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to support engagement activities and team projects.Basic understanding of the creative process and project implementation.Computer proficiency with common software production suites.Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, service-focused environment.Willing to adapt to changing demands and priorities.Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently on assigned tasks.Salary range $63,000.00 - $68,000.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
