Expert Software Developer
We are seeking an Expert Software Developer to join an innovative state-level technology project with NYS ITS. You will play a key role in building and optimizing the Universal LIMS Sampling Application , a critical system used for laboratory information management and digital transformation initiatives across state agencies.
This is a high-impact, long-term opportunity for a developer who enjoys architecting end-to-end solutions-from backend services in Swift to modern web interfaces using React and Next.js.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and implement server-side applications using Swift and the Vapor framework.
- Develop and optimize RESTful APIs, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate on frontend development using Next.js, React, and TypeScript for administrative dashboards and user interfaces.
- Design and manage SQL databases, focusing on query optimization and ORM integration.
- Contribute to DevOps pipelines, including CI / CD, Docker, and cloud-based deployment workflows.
- Participate in system architecture discussions, testing, and documentation to ensure maintainable and future-ready codebases.
Qualifications :
84 months of professional experience in Swift development , including server-side Swift, concurrency (async / await), dependency management, and error handling.24 months of experience with a Web Framework (or equivalent frameworks such as Express.js, Django, or Rails), focusing on RESTful API design, routing, and middleware.48 months of experience with SQL databases (SQL Server preferred), database schema design, and ORM / query builders (e.g., Prisma, Sequelize).24 months of experience in Next.js / React frontend development using TypeScript, building management interfaces or admin dashboards with API integration.48 months of DevOps experience, including REST API integration, authentication / authorization (JWT, sessions), API documentation (OpenAPI / Swagger), version control (Git), and CI / CD automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI).12 months of hands-on experience with Swift Vapor , including routing, controllers, middleware, Fluent ORM, Leaf templating, and deploying Vapor-based applications.Why You Should Join :
