Senior Staff Accountant
Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to management, highlighting key trends and issues. Assist with the preparation of financial statements for partners and external stakeholders. Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures. Review and post adjustments to ensure correct accounting records. Supervise billing processes for assigned offices / partners to ensure timely and accurate invoicing of clients. Review accounts receivable aging reports and manage collections efforts to ensure prompt payment. Coordinate with attorneys and clients to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes. Oversee accounts payable functions, ensuring timely payment to vendors, suppliers, and contractors. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate payment terms where necessary. Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies in a timely manner. Oversee and reconcile IOLTA accounts in accordance with legal and ethical requirements. Ensure compliance with state bar regulations and proper allocation of client funds. Assist with the annual budgeting process, including preparing forecasts and financial projections. Provide financial insights and recommendations for improving profitability and cost control. Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure proper safeguarding of assets and adherence to firm policies. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and respond to audit inquiries. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including law firm accounting standards. Monitor cash flow on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure sufficient liquidity for firm operations. Provide recommendations for improving cash management practices. Work closely with other departments, including human resources, IT, and legal teams, to ensure smooth financial operations. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement efficiencies through automation and technology. Lead or assist in special financial projects, including mergers, acquisitions, or new practice area development. Provide support for financial analyses related to potential investments, expansions, or other business strategies.
