Job Title : Network Engineer - Consultant
Location : Cayce, SC 29033.
Duration : 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
Pay Rate : $60 / Hourly on W2
Scope of the Project :
The consultant will be part of a team responsible for segmenting, splitting, and cleaning up the inherited infrastructure environment to establish a standalone, secure framework for the new DPH. This involves working with a large volume of systems, servers, and interdependencies across the state to ensure compliance, business continuity, and adherence to industry best practices. The role also includes supporting the day-to-day operations of the agency's server hosting environment.
Daily Duties / Responsibilities :
Participate in planning, designing, installation, configuration, and conversion of physical and virtual servers into a segmented framework.
Administer and support on-premises Active Directory and Azure Active Directory in a hybrid environment.
Review, cleanup, and redesign Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for security and standardization; troubleshoot GPO issues.
Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and other automation tools to streamline administrative tasks.
Perform user, group, and permissions management.
Monitor Active Directory health and replication; cleanup stale user and computer objects.
Ensure systems align with IT security policies and industry standards (e.g., CIS, NIST).
Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities and improve security posture.
Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex technical issues.
Work with network, server, and help desk teams on cross-functional initiatives.
Support infrastructure projects, migrations, and upgrades, including cloud integration.
Work independently with limited supervision, providing clear documentation and roadmaps.
Required Skills (Ranked in Order of Importance) :
Experience with Windows Server administration and support (3-5 years).
Strong proficiency in Group Policy (GPO) and PowerShell scripting (3-5 years).
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD) (3-5 years).
Experience with Citrix Presentation Server or XenApp environments.
Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery (DR) processes.
Preferred Skills (Ranked in Order of Importance) :
Experience with hosted virtual environments and foundational knowledge of Azure virtualization.
Experience with Microsoft Intune and Quest KACE for endpoint management.
Experience with Linux Server.
Strong critical thinking and problem-resolution skills.
General understanding of Hitachi Storage (HNAS / HDI) or similar enterprise SAN / NAS environments.
Advanced knowledge of computer and network hardware, software, and operating systems.
Experience with security and data classification standards (CDC, HIPAA, CJIS).
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level system architectures.
Advanced knowledge of IT system analysis, design, testing, and maintenance techniques.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with technical teams, customers, and stakeholders.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to align technical solutions with agency goals and objectives.
Familiarity with AI-driven automation and predictive analytics.
CCNA certification.
Required Education :
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent work experience.
