Geronimo Power is seeking a Senior Engineer / Engineer III to join our transmission team. This person will be responsible for evaluating electrical aspects of renewable energy projects. This position will be based out of the company headquarters in Bloomington, MN.
General Position Overview
Senior Engineer : A fully competent engineer in the subject matter or the functional areas of the assignments. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Ability to devise new approaches to problems.
Responsibilities :
- Performing technical analyses relating to wind, solar and other project development.
- Performing analytical and administrative tasks relating to electrical interconnection and development of wind, solar, or other energy projects.
- Completing analytic and administrative tasks relating to Project Scoping, Screening Analyses, Generator Interconnection, Facilities Studies, IA negotiation and Strategic Initiatives.
- Representing Geronimo Power and / or renewable energy at appropriate industry conferences and stakeholder meetings, participating in discussions and providing comments if needed.
- Interface with customers and different stakeholders to achieve successful project creation and implementation.
- Ability to summarize projects' results and discuss if needed with accuracy and clarity.
- Drafts different reports and presentations as required from the Transmission Department.
- Ability to provide guidance for Engineers I-III if needed.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree (and / or Master's degree) in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.5-8 years of electrical engineering / transmission planning experience or ISO Generation Interconnection Process industry experience.RTO (ERCOT, MISO, PJM or SPP) knowledge / experience required.Ability to review and critique TO / RTO work / results and validate for accuracy and communicate back to the RTO for comments or corrections.Excellent knowledge of PSS / E, and TARA analysis software.Experience with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regional processes and the different NERC TPL standards is a plus.Good written and verbal communication skills.We offer a comprehensive benefit package, including Medical, Dental, 401(k) and disability benefits.
