Why does the job exist?
The primary purpose of the position is to develop, implement, and maintain an effective training program for all new and existing staff, contracted staff, and volunteers, consistent with their expected roles. Will devote a substantial portion of time assigning and directly supervising work of at least two (2) full-time employees, acting upon leave requests, conducting annual performance evaluations and recommendations for disciplinary actions.

Works closely with facility's leaders in developing a training plan that addresses all regulatory requirements.
Develops or revises educational content to ensure the information reflects current standards of practice and facility policy.
Tracks attendance / completion of training to ensure compliance.

Staff members, contracted staff and volunteers at a long-term care facility.
Ideal Candidate
Will have :
The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the general public.
Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
The ability to function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with personnel, and support agencies.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any field and six (6) years of experience in adult education, instructional design, instructional technology, human resources, employee development, training, and / or producing instructional aid / materials. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Will be screened for tuberculosis (TB) upon hire.
Working Conditions
Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., nurses' stations, etc.).
Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies / personnel, etc.,
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.,
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and / or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and / or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
