Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position with night shifts and Cerner EMR experience required.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes trauma, burns, cardiac, spinal cord, and behavioral health holdsPatient ratios are 1 : 4 in the ERThe unit includes 36 acute beds, 54 subacute beds, and 6 trauma bays (no travelers assigned to trauma bays)Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience is requiredAssignment is for 13 weeks with 12-hour night shiftsFour weekend shifts are required per four-week periodHoliday coverage required for 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's)Floating within multiple ER locations may be required, including facilities up to 30 minutes apart, and floating can occur mid-shiftOrientation includes 12 hours and 2-3 floor orientation shiftsScrub color is navyResponsibilities include providing emergency care to diverse patient populations such as trauma, cardiac, psych holds, and general emergenciesTrauma and major pediatric cases are stabilized and transferred outWill work with a team including 2 charge RNs, 4 PCTs, MDs, midlevels, RTs, and pharmacy supportSIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion required; sterile technique is strictly evaluated during orientationIV team is available and core RNs are ultrasound trainedVentilators are managed by respiratory therapistsBehavioral health patients (30-40 holds) may be present in the EDHoliday coverage expectations are clearly defined for major holidaysReturning candidates may not have been directly employed by related health systems in the past yearPersonal transportation is required for travel between facilitiesRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license is required at the time of application; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent ER experience is requiredAt least 1 year of Level 1 Trauma experience as both permanent staff and traveler required (will consider 8+ months Level 1 experience)Must have recent Cerner EMR experience documented in work historyCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS; TNCC and ATCN are preferredMust be able to read cardiac strips and work with Philips telemetry monitorsPassing the DYS (Relias Dysrhythmia) exam and a sterile technique skills validation on day 1 of orientation is required; failure on two attempts leads to disqualificationMust reside more than 50 miles from facility; driver’s license used for verificationMust submit a copy of driver’s license for considerationMust provide two recent professional references as specifiedMust have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testingFirst time travelers will not be consideredBenefits
