Entry Level Substation P& C Engineer
Job Summary : Power Engineers is currently seeking an Entry Level Substation Protection & Control (P& C) Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Augusta office located in Hallowell, Maine. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (new employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Roles and Responsibilities
- The position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards.
- Perform the detailed P& C design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to :
One-line diagrams
P& C equipment selectionProtection and control schematicsWiring diagramsSCADACommunicationsMaterial listsConduit and cable sizing / routingAC and DC systems calculations and sizingEngineering Documentation such as Requests for Information (RFIs), Scope Documents, Equipment Specifications, Protection and Control Descriptions, and Construction SpecificationsWork with CAD designers / drafters to develop drawing packagesCoordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and CivilParticipate in quality assurance and quality control programsContribute to engineering proposal developmentContribute to engineering project scheduling and budget managementRequired Education / Experience
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university preferably with a power optionUnderstanding of substation equipment and its functionGood command of the Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and WordThe candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelCandidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education / Experience
