The Night Ministry is a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides human connection, housing, and health care to individuals struggling with housing stability or poverty. Our work is centered around two core service areas :   Outreach & Healthcare and  Youth Housing . Through our Outreach & Health programs, we meet people where they are, on CTA platforms, in encampments, at libraries, and across city neighborhoods; offering consistent, compassionate care and vital health services.

Our Youth Housing programs provide shelter and supportive services to young adults, helping them build stability and work toward their goals in safe, affirming environments. What You'll Do

As the Program Supervisor at The Crib, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the program and supporting your team of Program Specialists to carry out The Night Ministry's mission with excellence. Your leadership will ensure consistency, safety, compliance, and a welcoming space for youth experiencing housing instability.

Key responsibilities include :

Leading the day-to-day operations during evening and overnight hours (8 : 00 PM-10 : 00 AM), with regular on-site presence.

Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising Program Specialists, including conducting biweekly check-ins and annual reviews.

Maintaining staff schedules and ensuring shift coverage, occasionally providing coverage directly.

Ensuring compliance with agency and funder requirements, including audits and documentation.

Overseeing inventory, food service operations, and safety protocols, including cleanliness and crisis response.

Supporting data collection in ETO / HMIS systems and ensuring staff are appropriately certified.

Participating in agency-wide meetings, trainings, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Representing The Crib in donor and volunteer tours, events, and site visits as needed.

Serving as a role model in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, restorative justice, and positive youth development approaches.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a passionate and experienced leader who thrives in high-responsibility environments and brings a strong commitment to youth empowerment. You should be flexible, calm under pressure, and dedicated to fostering a consistent, inclusive space for vulnerable young people.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in human services or related field or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and 7+ years of relevant supervisory experience in residential programs.

Proven ability to supervise, train, and support staff working in crisis and shelter settings.

Strong crisis management, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Familiarity with ETO, HMIS, or other case management databases.

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a 15-passenger van.

Ability to pass required DCFS background check.

Willingness to maintain flexible hours, including overnight presence and weekend availability.

CPR, First Aid, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), and food sanitation certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Bonus if you :

Hold a Master's degree in social work or a related field.

Speak Spanish.
