Job Title
To monitor and supervise workers, including seasonal employees, contract workers, and community service program as applicable, and participate in the cleanup of litter, debris, and illegal dumping. This position will require working city events, programs, and other additional duties and responsibilities as needed during emergency's impacting the city.
Major Duties
- Supervises and monitors seasonal workers in support of the Leaf Vacuum and Litter Control programs and services.
- Explains program and safety procedures and rules; answer questions and discusses problems related to Public Works programs.
- Plans ahead, using the most time efficient and effective work pattern, the areas that will be collected and cleaned of litter. Must have the ability to manage work routes and schedules.
- Directs and manages workers in the efficient and safe leaf collection and pick up of litter in public right of ways (ROW).
- Identifies and takes appropriate and required safety precautions and measures in setting up leaf collection and litter pick up operations in work zones.
- Keeps detailed electronic records of, including but not limited to, leaf collection and litter pick up information, worker information, areas and hours worked, etc., and reports this information to responsible parties.
- Performs computer and Global Positioning System (GPS) functions to enter / edit data and verify tonnages of solid waste and scrap metal taken from job locations, using approved formats for tracking cleanup activities.
- Maintains necessary supplies to perform leaf collection and all litter control activities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Periodically prepares and communicates progress reports to Public Works Department Head or assignee, City Officials, Managers and Supervisors.
- Meet with residents and business owners. Attend meeting outside regular business hours.
- Participates in the cleanup and transportation of litter, illegal dumping and other debris on public right of ways (ROW).
- Provides basic medical assistance to employees and assigned community service workers in case of injury.
- The work will involve rotating shift assignments, including working evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years minimum work experience as a supervisor, completing payroll, routing and staff scheduling. High School Diploma (GED) or above required. Must have a valid Georgia Class (C) Driver's License, or CDL. Have skills in data entry, excel, Microsoft, and the ability to work with cities BS&A software.
