Role Overview :
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist / Coordinator will support the Universal Studios Hollywood EHS department by advancing workplace safety and environmental health initiatives across the theme park, CityWalk, and related construction projects. This role requires strong knowledge of OSHA / Cal OSHA, ability to conduct field inspections, develop Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, oversee contractor safety compliance, and maintain EHS documentation.
The Specialist will work in both administrative and field settings, ensuring compliance, mitigating hazards, and reinforcing Universal's core value of "Making Safety a Priority."
Must-Have Skills :
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety Expertise : OSHA, Cal OSHA / Title 8, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), hazard identification, fall protection, walking-working surfaces, steel erection, power tool & electrical safety.
- Experience : 3–5 years in EHS, construction safety, or related roles.
- Fieldwork Capability : Ability to perform multiple site visits, climb ladders, operate carts, and evaluate hazards.
- Construction Knowledge : Exposure to large-scale projects, theme park rides, electrical or multi-disciplinary construction sites.
- Administrative & Technical Skills : Recordkeeping, contractor oversight, compliance reporting (SharePoint, GenSuite, Intelex, Avetta, BROWZ, Bluebeam, ACC, Designer View).
- Software : Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
- Licensing : Valid driver's license required.
- Professionalism : Strong communication, safety reporting, and documentation skills.
Nice-to-Have :
Safety Certifications : OHST, CHST, ASP, CSP (preferred).Prior theme park or amusement park construction experience (highly desired).Experience with major construction companies or large facilities.Background in risk assessments, preventive action planning, and trend analysis.Key Responsibilities :
Conduct risk assessments and provide hazard mitigation solutions.Develop, document, and implement Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.Support contractor / vendor prequalification and compliance through the EHS Contractor Safety Database.Maintain accurate EHS records, verification, and safety documentation.Provide status updates, reports, and safety performance metrics to management / stakeholders.Perform site visits across Universal Studios Hollywood & CityWalk.Oversee project completion checklists for compliance.Respond to safety-related emails and manage administrative responsibilities.Foster a strong safety culture by proactive hazard identification and planning.Education :
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Studies preferred.
Equivalent combination of education & professional experience will be considered.
Base pay range
$23.81 / hr - $35.00 / hr
