Job Description
The embedded Automation Support Engineer 1 will be based at a HighRes customer site in Tarrytown, NY. This role focuses on supporting our systems, software, and equipment. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, experienced in troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and act as a liaison to coordinate preventive maintenance and device service. The position offers educational, demanding, and rewarding opportunities with potential for progression within our growing service and support division.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and enhance software for laboratory automation devices and robotic systems, primarily through onsite support.
- Provide troubleshooting, end-user support, and updates for Cellario, Solution, and Cellario Order Broker software in coordination with head office support teams.
- Maintain and troubleshoot robotic system databases and related software.
- Set up and configure robotic platforms for customers.
- Address hardware issues (pneumatics, communications) with support from back office and engineering teams; provide onsite updates when feasible.
- Collaborate with field service engineers and R&D teams for device integration and operation troubleshooting.
- Escalate complex issues to higher support levels while maintaining quality and quick turnaround.
- Assist with preventative maintenance visits.
- Maintain high communication standards internally and externally, aiming for first-time fixes.
- Provide feedback to improve software, systems, and devices.
Customer Site Role Specifics
Work collaboratively with all customer site systems and teams.Recommend initiatives to improve system uptime based on operational data.Act as a customer advocate, driving internal actions and reporting back to customer teams.Plan and execute software updates and deployments.Train customers onsite to enhance system operation and confidence.Hold regular meetings to review system issues and foster collaboration.Qualifications
Required
BSc in computer science, software, or related engineering field.Proficiency in C#, object-oriented programming (excluding web development).Knowledge of TCP / IP, RS232 communications.Strong problem-solving skills.Effective teamwork and communication skills.Desirable
Experience in customer service / support in automation or software.Knowledge of relational databases and automation experience.Electronics / electrical skills (desirable but not essential).Basic mechanical skills (tapping, drilling, hand tools).Additional Information
