Substation Lead Electrical Engineer

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lead Substation Electrical Engineer to support Renewables / Utility / Power projects. The Lead Electrical Engineer acts as a technical leader, applying standard engineering techniques and procedures on complex projects. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed project phases.

What You'll Do

Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for utility substations, relay automation equipment, and related drawings. Perform calculations using engineering formulas and skills. Provide technical guidance to other engineers.

What We Expect from You

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred), from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• PE registration required.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• Effective leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead complex substation projects with multidisciplinary teams from estimation and proposals through detailed design, commissioning, and construction support.
• Proficiency with substation protection and control design and industry standards.
• Experience reviewing and producing design drawings, including one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel elevations.
• Ability to perform AC & DC substation studies.
• Knowledge of substation electrical equipment and basic relay settings (a plus).
• Experience with onsite commissioning and construction support (a plus).
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) (a plus).
• Proven experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Up to 15% travel required.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Eligibility to work permanently in the US.

Additional Opportunity Details :

Target Base Compensation Range : $119,600 - $155,000
