About the Role
The Real Estate Officer is responsible for negotiating, structuring, and managing a wide range of real estate transactions, including licensing, leasing, and the acquisition or disposition of property. This role requires an independent, strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders-from internal leaders to government representatives, business owners, developers, brokers, and attorneys. This role requires being onsite at UCSF a minimum of four days per week.

The approved salary range for this position is $145,000 to $165,000 annually.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Department Description
UCSF Real Estate is responsible for the planning, development, delivery, and management of UCSF's physical space, ensuring that facilities and campuses effectively support the university's mission of advancing health worldwide. The organization takes a unified, strategic approach to managing UCSF's multi-site growth and navigating the challenges of operating within a complex metropolitan environment.
As an integrated unit, UCSF Real Estate aligns development, planning, design, construction, and lease portfolio management under one organization. Core services are provided through specialized departments, including Building Permit Services, Campus Design and Construction, Campus Planning, Construction Contract Administration, Health Design and Construction, Health Major Capital Projects, Real Estate Services, and support functions such as Business Intelligence, Finance, Administration, and Operations.
The Real Estate Services department manages approximately 3 million rentable square feet across UCSF campuses and off-site locations. The team oversees real estate strategy, transactions, property operations, and lease administration to ensure space is effectively planned, managed, and aligned with the university's mission. By optimizing resources and supporting future growth, Real Estate Services provides the environments that enable UCSF's excellence in patient care, research, education, and community service.
The combined Campus and Health teams consist of approximately 198 UCSF employees and 38 contract staff. Together, they manage annual operating and recharge budgets exceeding $62.2 million, oversee $900 million in annual capital project expenditures, and provide stewardship for a long-range capital development program valued at more than $13.3 billion.
