Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems on vessels, ensuring all work meets safety standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a solid understanding of marine electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems on boats, ships, and marine equipment (lighting, navigation systems, communication systems, generators, motors, batteries, and wiring).
- Diagnose electrical issues, perform testing, and complete repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with marine safety codes, regulations, and classification society standards (e.g., ABS, USCG, ABYC).
- Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce failures and extend equipment lifespan.
- Collaborate with shipyard staff, engineers, and project managers to support vessel construction, refits, and repairs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and inspection reports.
- Uphold a safe work environment by following company policies and OSHA / marine safety standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology preferred.Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a marine, shipyard, or industrial setting.Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems (AC / DC power, switchboards, control panels, PLCs, generators, battery systems, and electronics including NMEA 2000 networking)Ability to use diagnostic tools, multimeters, and other electrical testing equipment.Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and manuals.Familiarity with marine codes and standards (ABYC, NFPA, IMO, etc.).Physical ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.Preferred Skills
Marine Electrician Certification (ABYC or equivalent).Experience with hybrid / electric propulsion systems and modern marine technologies.Knowledge of automation, control systems, or integration with navigation / electronics equipment.Company Description
