Medical Director START

Under the direction of the region's START leadership, the Medical Director START provides medical oversight and consults with START staff providing services to persons supported in assigned region(s). Makes recommendations to START team and external providers including treating physicians and psychiatric hospitals regarding treatment of persons with I / DD and mental health needs, including complex cases. Provides training and education to START staff, ensuring appropriateness of interventions and participates in assessments, data collection and analysis and overall coordination of care for START program participants.

Key / Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Provides consultation and training to all members of the team, including clinical team and therapeutic supports.
• Collaborates with primary treating physicians and other providers of persons supported by START and provides recommendations.
• Provides consultation to psychiatric hospitals regarding treatment of people with I / DD and mental health needs and makes recommendations.
• Participates in recurring team meetings as necessary and provides recommendations.
• Participates in monthly Clinical Education Trainings (CETs) including supporting the Clinical Director(s) with training, multidisciplinary assessment, recommendations and treatment planning.
• Collaborates with other members of the START leadership team to monitor quality of START service delivery in assigned region and assures fidelity to the START model.
• Assists with the collection of Matson Evaluation of Drug Side Effects (MEDS) assessment data and analyzes the data with the assistance of START team members.
• Participates in regular START network learning opportunities, including quarterly Medical Director Practice Group sessions.
• Provides on-site consultation and treatment as needed for guests receiving resource center services and therapeutic in-home coaching services, if applicable.
• Reviews health needs, completes assessments, provides recommendations and follows up for persons supported by START.
• Works with the Clinical Director to provide weekly clinical consult to Coordinators / Team Leads on START recipients with complex presentations.
• Complies with and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, Local and other relevant regulatory agency requirements, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and cooperation with appropriate entities in any inspection, inquiry or investigation.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure / certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)
