Job Title : Mainframe AS / 400 System Administrator
Location : Remote
Duration : 12 Months contract (Good Possibilities of extension)
Job Description : Skills Preferred :
IBM AS / 400 Administration will possess core technical skills related to an IBM I Operating system including the following :
1) Deep understanding of the IBM i architecture and object-based file system
2) Proficiency in CL (Control Language) commands and scripting
3) Familiarity with system menus, command-line operations, and Navigator for I or Access Client Solutions (ACS)
4) Experience managing system configurations, libraries, subsystems, and device descriptions.
IBM AS / 400 Administration will possess core technical skills for system monitoring and performance of an IBM AS / 400 system including :
1) Expertise in monitoring tools
2) ability to analyze CPU memory and job queue performance metrics.

IBM AS / 400 Administration will possess core technical skills related to Backup and Recovery of an IBM AS / 400 system including :
1) Backup and recovery configuration and administration
2) Knowledge of Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution
3) Familiarity with High Availability solutions; and 4) Experience managing backup schedules, tapes devices and media libraries.
IBM AS / 400 Administration will possess core technical skills of an IBM AS / 400 system in the areas of the following :
IBM AS / 400 Administration will possess :
1) Strong communication and leadership skills; 2) Critical thinking skills - including abilities in analysis and problem-solving; 3) Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities; and 4) Effective team player and collaboration skills.
Experience Preferred :
At minimum, three years' experience within the last seven years conducting day-to-day server, system, and security administration of an IBM AS / 400 platform, preferably at the Version 7, R3 level or higher. Three years' experience with developing, coding, testing, and implementing programs specifically for the AS / 400, or which can transfer data into existing or newly developed systems. Three years' experience with Mapping Suites software. Three years' experience with Power 8 to EMC Dell VNX storage connectivity for disaster recovery backups. Three years' experience writing specifications and creating system documentation for existing and new systems.
Education Preferred : This classification requires a bachelor's degree in information technology (IT), Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration, or a related field and at least one IBM i (AS / 400) training course completed. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
