The Director of Commercial Lines is a key leadership role responsible for the overall management, development, and performance of the Commercial Lines department. This individual ensures efficient operations, high-quality client service, and consistent achievement of business objectives. The position is in-office and requires strong leadership, deep insurance knowledge, and strategic oversight.
Work Environment :
- Monday through Friday - 8 : 30am to 5 : 00pm
- Professional office setting
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Frequent collaboration with executive leadership and departmental staff
- Required - Occasional local travel to local office locations

Responsibilities
and Primary Duties :
Lead and manage the Commercial Lines department, ensuring high performance and service excellenceDevelop strategies to drive department growth and profitabilityMonitor and evaluate performance metrics and implement improvements as neededOversee client onboarding, renewals, and servicing to ensure a high level of satisfactionMaintain strong carrier relationships and negotiate with underwriters on complex accountsEnsure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality control standardsConduct regular training and development for team membersStay current with market trends and changes in regulationsPrepare reports, forecasts, and presentations for executive managementCollaborate cross-functionally with other departments (e.g., Claims, Personal Lines, Benefits)Supervisory Responsibilities :
Directly supervises account managers, producers, and support staff within the Commercial Lines teamResponsible for hiring, training, performance evaluations, and coachingProvides leadership and direction to achieve department goalsRequirements
Education :
Relevant certifications (e.g., CIC, CPCU, ARM)Bachelor's Degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field preferredExperience :
Minimum 7 years of experience in Commercial Lines insuranceAt least 3 years in a leadership or management capacityProven track record of business development and client retentionKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
In-depth knowledge of commercial property & casualty insurance products and underwritingProblem Solving SkillsStrong understanding of industry laws, regulations, and compliance standardsExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge and a working relationship with top carriers in the independent insurance agency channelDetail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilitiesCommitment to customer service and quality assurance
