Job Summary Board certified orthopedic spine surgeon with a growing med-legal practice is seeking a Medical Legal Coordinator. This is an onsite, full time position. We are located on the Novato Community Hospital campus. Office hours are 8 : 30 am-5 : 30pm; Mon - Fri.
As the Medical Legal Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting our provider and patients in navigating the complex world of medical-legal evaluations. This is a dynamic, multi-tasking role that bridges clinical precision with legal accuracy—and it plays a pivotal part in how we deliver trusted care and defensible documentation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Qualified Medical Legal Exams, Independent Medical Exams (IMEs), Personal Injury evaluations, and Workers’ Compensation / DWC cases
- Prepare comprehensive reports and assist providers in narrative development
- Conduct detailed record reviews and help summarize relevant case histories
- Act as a historian, gathering and organizing timelines and supporting documentation
- Manage scheduling of evaluations, depositions, and follow-up appointments
- Handle correspondence with legal representatives, insurance adjusters, and patients
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation and ensure compliance with legal standards
Qualifications
Experience in medical-legal, healthcare administration, or case coordination setting.Familiarity with California workers’ compensation, personal injury, and DWC processes.Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while staying organized and proactive.Strong communication, both written and verbal.Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.Comfort using EMR systems and Microsoft Office tools.Experience in Orthopedic practice is a plus.Bachelor's degree is a plus.
