We are looking for a dedicated and member-focused Library Services Clerk to join our team who will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our library and provide excellent service to our members.
We Are Looking for Candidates with :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year's experience working with public
- Commitment to public service
- Confidence using the Microsoft 365 applications and ability to learn the Core Technology Competencies
- Ability to learn the library’s management system and the arrangement of material in a library
- Ability to bend, carry up to twenty pounds, move loaded wheeled carts weighing up to 300 pounds, and stand for four-hour shifts
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and ability to prioritize and organize work
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a productive team
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Checking in and checking out materialsIssuing and renewing library cardsAssisting the public and answering and redirecting inquiries in person, over the telephone, and via email or chatReceiving and recording feesUpdating cardholder accountsRetrieving and processing requested materialsRunning reports and verifying item status or collecting materials associated with those reportsRemoving items from the reserve shelf that have not been retrieved and changing the status in the library’s management systemProcessing and preparing holds for cardholders to pick upProcessing and transiting material for holds to other librariesOrganizing items and carts for discharge and shelvingRetrieving and discharging materials from book drops, checking items for damageOrganizing returned materials for shelvingReturning borrowed materials to the owning librariesCarrying out other duties in support of the department and the libraryGlen Ellyn Public Library / Library Services, DuPage County
Hours
Total bi-weekly : 48.5 hours. Alternating Sundays : 1-5pm; Tuesday : Alternating 1-9pm / 5-9pm; Wednesday : 9am-1pm; Thursday : 9am-1pm; Alternating Fridays : 9am-5pm; Alternating Saturdays : 9am-5pm
$15-$21.61, $18 is the midpoint for this position. Offers are made within this range based on competencies, experience, and internal equity.
