Security Officer

Performs a wide range of duties to insure the safety and security of the Hospital and its patients, visitors, physicians, employees, and others, as well as the property of same, ensuring that all responsibilities are performed in strict accordance with Hospital and / or Departmental Policies at all times.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Maintains surveillance over Hospital property and the property of employees, patients, visitors, and notes on Daily Reports.
- Is alert to intrusions into / onto Hospital property, observes, challenges, and reports in Daily Reports and / or Incident Reports the presence of intruders or persons acting suspicious 100% of the time.
- Responds to, reports, and documents any breach of Hospital security policies.
- Responds immediately to all emergency requests for security assistance, helping to ensure the safety of all Hospital employees, visitors, and others 100% of the time, in accordance with Hospital policies.
- Follows Hospital and / or Departmental policies and procedures related to the operation of the security department with no more than 1 documented error or problem per quarter.
- Performs Morse Watchman Checkstation Rounds in accordance with and as outlined by Departmental Policy.
- Provides, as necessary, and in a timely manner, Escort Service to parking areas or remote areas of the Hospital, in order to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, or others, reporting all such Escort Services provided on Daily Reports.
- Patrols all Hospital parking areas and grounds to ensure the safety and security of said areas at all times, in accordance with Departmental Policies and observed on Daily Reports.
- Monitors and witnesses the removal of patient valuables from the admitting safe when requested as outlined in the Hospital Policies and Procedures Manual with documentation on Daily Reports as well as in the valuables log.
- Performs one on one (Constant Patient Observations) when requested to do so by clinical staff.
- Provides a completed Daily Report at the end of each shift documenting all duties performed during the shift and noting as necessary or required any other information.
- Identifies potentially unsafe conditions and takes initiative to correct the condition in order to prevent injury.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Hospital's Fire Regulations and Disaster Procedures.
Scheduled Hours : Full Time - 40hrs / week
Work Shift : Nights
Education Required : High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience Required : Previous hospital security and or law enforcement related experience preferred.
Licensure / Certification Requirements : EVADE certification required. Maintains American Heart Association BLS certification. Basic Healthcare Security Officer certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) highly recommended after twelve months of employment.
