Job Summary :
We are seeking a dedicated and mechanically inclined Machinist Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in precision machining and manufacturing processes who are willing to grow through formal apprenticeship classes and on-the-job training. As a Machinist Apprentice, you will learn to operate CNC and manual machines, develop technical skills, and build a long-term career in advanced manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in operating and setting up manual and CNC machines (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders) under the guidance of experienced machinists.
Learn and apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, including blueprint reading, part inspection, and process control.
Participate in job-specific and classroom-based apprentice training programs, including NIMS certifications.
Travel as needed for off-site training, certifications, or technical instruction.
Follow written and verbal instructions to complete machining tasks safely and accurately.
Use precision measuring instruments to inspect and verify machined parts.
Maintain clean workspaces and adhere to all shop safety practices and procedures.
Document work performed and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Candidate Qualifications :
Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work.
Willingness to enroll in and complete formal apprentice program classes .
Growth mindset with the ability to learn quickly and accept feedback.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and CNC machinery .
Previous work experience in machining, fabrication, or another skilled trade preferred.
Completion of or enrollment in career tech machinist training or relevant machinist classes .
NIMS certifications (completed or in progress) are a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in reading, writing, and verbal interactions.
Ability to travel for training and off-site instruction as required.
Preferred Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED.
Familiarity with machine shop safety and quality practices.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
