Maintenance Mechanic / Machine Repair Technician 2nd shift : 3 : 20 PM – 11 : 40 PM (20-minute unpaid lunch) will train on 1st shift for 90-days or shorter Union Facility Pay rate : $31.47 The client can pay $36.37 if you are a Mechanic with UAW Machine Repairer Journeyman Card or a Department of Labor (DOL) Machine Repair Journeyman card or must have 8 years of verifiable industrial work experience (meeting eligibility requirements for a UAW card) in repair and maintenance of mechanical and hydraulic machinery, equipment, and pumps. Must be able to pass required skilled / aptitude test. Summary : Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all machinery, equipment, hydraulic test stands, and pump systems. Performs preventive maintenance and lubrication to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and test equipment. Primary Essential Function : Make mechanical and / or hydraulic repairs to all machinery, equipment, hydraulic test stands, and hydraulic pump systems; lubricate machinery and equipment and document all preventive maintenance. Key Responsibilities : Work independently with minimal supervision. Interpret and work from blueprints, hydraulic schematics, sketches, manuals, and verbal or written instructions. Operate machine tools and fabricate or rework parts to precise specifications when required. Bend and fit hydraulic tubing; install fittings, valves, gauges, filters, heat exchangers, pumps, and other components related to mechanical or hydraulic repair of test or production equipment. Determine repair methods and complete repairs on valves, pumps, regulators, filters, tubing leaks, ball screws, nut assemblies, and moving assemblies for all test and production equipment. Change gear case and hydraulic system oils and filters; grease and oil machinery as needed. Maintain accurate documentation in the maintenance database to ensure preventive maintenance (PM) frequencies are current. Read and use precision measuring instruments to verify accuracy of parts and repairs. Troubleshoot and repair machinery lubrication problems. Diagnose and repair both low- and high-pressure hydraulic test systems and a variety of hydraulic components. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures on production machinery and equipment. Diagnose and repair low-voltage electrical issues (up to 120V applications). Participate in continuous improvement activities within the department and facility. Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent required; technical / vocational training preferred. 3+ years of industrial maintenance or machine repair experience. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, machine tools, and fabrication equipment. Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and technical manuals. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to work with minimal supervision. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call as needed. Physical Requirements : Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods. Comfortable working in industrial environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
