Job Summary : \n-Performs a variety of Ultrasound procedures that utilize high frequency sound waves to evaluate internal organs and vessels for the diagnosis of disease.\n-Prepares exam room.\n-Obtains informed consent, and requests an accurate clinical history as necessary for the exam.\n-Reviews patient history and determines proper selection of protocols.\n-Explains method of examination and positions patient.\n-Assesses the patient’s status and needs, completes appropriate diagnostic techniques / tests to ascertain patient’s on-going condition, and performs the necessary interventions.\n-Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered.\n-Ensures quality images.\n-Coordinates the preparation of images / exams and needed documentation for physician partners.\n-Documents and communicates patient related information thoroughly and accurately.\n-Informs patient of physician’s instructions or ancillary caregiver’s observations or concerns and takes same into consideration in providing appropriate care.\n-Meets the needs of the patient, family and multi-disciplinary team through effective communication, coordination and documentation ensuring safety, care, courtesy and efficiency.\n-Ensures safe and effective hand off between shifts by communicating clearly with oncoming shift.\n-Monitors equipment reliability and safety. Reports issues and / or repairs or service due.\n-Orders and stocks supplies, cleans rooms, and equipment to maintain work environment.\n-Transports patients as needed.\n-Actively participates in quality initiatives, including patient satisfaction, patient care, and workflow.\n-Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.\n-Performs other duties as assigned.\n\nRequired Education : \n-High School Diploma or equivalent required.\n\nPreferred Education : \n-Associate’s degree preferred.\n\nRequired Certifications & Licensure : \n-American Registry of Radiologic Technology ARRT (S) or ARDMS registry is required.\n-RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. RCS - Reg Cardiac Sono.\n-Candidates must obtain registry within 18 months of hire.\n-BLS - American Heart Association.\n
