American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and Arizona or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit within an acute hospital settingUnit features 48 beds including 10 epilepsy specialty roomsHandles a range of neurological patients including epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, TBI, and other neuro diagnosesTelemetry and Med / Surg patient care requiredNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 for both days and nightsDay shifts are 12 hours (7am-7pm), with self-scheduling and weekend coverage required for 3 shifts per 4 weeksPossible floating to Med / Surg and Telemetry floorsUse of Cerner EMREquipment includes telemetry monitors and Bipap, with RT managing ventsCharge nurse and resource RN available on every shift, as well as PCT supportOrientation includes two floor shifts and a 12-hour hospital orientationWork requires integration into the holiday rotationResponsibilities include caring for epilepsy monitoring patients, performing neurological assessments, and monitoring telemetryMust demonstrate strong critical thinking and assessment skills to detect subtle patient changesCompetency in sterile technique is strictly enforced during orientation SIMs LabOrientation pass / fail lab includes Foley catheter and central line dressing changesScrub color is Greys Anatomy steelNo artificial hair color or facial piercings allowed; men must be clean shaven for fit testingIncludes use of self-releasing velcro seat belts and wound care proceduresHoliday and weekend rotations are requiredCandidates with employment at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year are not eligibleFirst-day SIMs Lab has a pass / fail requirement, and failing the skills or dysrhythmia exam twice will result in disqualification for 6 months in the region\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredLevel 1 trauma experience is mandatoryAbility to pass pre-hire dysrhythmia exam (Relias) and sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changesMust provide driver’s license for verificationCompliant with a 50-mile radius rule based on permanent residenceTwo references required, including one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years\n Benefits\n
