Job Summary :
The Director, Lean Site Consultant is an internal site level Lean leader and subject matter expert, who will provide leadership to the implementation and governance of Wellstar's Lean Program. This role is a Lean subject matter expert, driving site-wide adoption of problem solving and continuous process improvement through facilitation of cross-functional teams towards sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable results. This role will drive strategic deployment that will enhance patient care, quality and safety, as well as key systems, by building effective customer-focused relationships, and deploying a process improvement strategy utilizing Wellstar's Lean Road Map as the primary strategy. This individual supports the implementation of the site's strategic plan as developed by the site and system executive leadership team in matrixed organization alignment with the Lean Transformation Office (LTO. The role will support Executive Sponsors, Process Owners, Physician and Administrative Leaders, and Front-line staff. The role facilitates leadership to challenge status quo thinking and resolves conflicts within teams to ensure forward progress while breaking down barriers. The Director, Lean Site Consultant provides training and coaching to develop Wellstar employees and leaders across all levels of the site, including the Lean Site Consultants and Facilitators. This role leads the knowledge transfer of Lean philosophy and methodology, including A3 thinking. This role is responsible for influencing change by advocating for excellence. This position is part of a matrixed organizational structure that will report directly to a site executive leader and to the Lean Transformation Office.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
Management system and site strategic Lean initiatives
Teach, Mentor and Coach Lean concepts
Deployment of a site-wide process improvement strategy utilizing key Lean resources.
Provide continuity / connectivity between system level departments and initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education :
Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or Healthcare Administration or Sciences
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) :
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) and Certification(s) :
Lean Certification Required
Six-Sigma certification within 1 Year Required
PMP Preferred
Required Minimum Experience :
Minimum 10 years of work experience required
Minimum 8 years of experience in a dedicated continuous improvement role utilizing Lean methodology required
Minimum 3 years in a direct management role required
Minimum 5 years in healthcare setting preferred
Proven experience influencing change at the executive level required while delivering results on strategic goals required
Lead complex, multi-department / service line initiatives in healthcare organization(s) required
Strong model of coaching and mentoring others in the concepts, methodologies, and tools of Lean required
Required Minimum Skills :
Lean subject matter expertise (examples include : A3 Thinking, Strategy Deployment, VSM, RIE, Visual Management, Daily Huddles, 5S, Lean Management, Coaching and Mentoring, and Training.)
Strong demeanor and style to quickly establish credibility throughout any level in the organization.
Influence positive and sustainable change, within and across, various site-wide functional areas.
Ability to partner with site-wide operational leaders to accumulate, analyze, and concisely present data.
Formulate actionable plans that are prioritized most closely around key issues and that align with strategic initiatives.
Lean Management System, and Leader Coaching and Development.
Well organized, disciplined and persistent. Driven to overcome complex barriers to achieve objectives.
Creative problem-solving, and the initiative to lead and effectively manage change.
Well versed in Microsoft 365 Products, data analysis, and project management.
