Commercial Legal Counsel

Location : Hybrid – Chicago, IL (3 days in-office, 2 days remote)

A well-established organization in the financial services sector is seeking a Commercial Legal Counsel to join its legal team. The company plays a key role in supporting financial market operations and is subject to regulatory oversight. This is a strategic opportunity to contribute to a high-impact legal function within a complex and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of vendor contracts, including SaaS, software licenses, cloud computing, AI, and professional services agreements.
• Provide pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders, balancing legal risk with business objectives.
• Collaborate with sourcing, IT, compliance, and security teams to ensure contracts meet legal and operational standards.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and streamlined processes.
• Support continuous improvement of contract management systems and practices.
• Enforce legal department policies related to commercial transactions.
• Participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as required.
